My Charity: The Gorilla Organisation

Everyone, deep down, loves animals. And considering how much we gain while they lose, we should all try to do our bit to help them.

The Gorilla Organization is the brains behind The Great Gorilla Run (which you will notice is Challenge #25). They aim to help gorillas by helping people. The idea is that you can't save gorillas if you don't have the local people on board. Conservation and alleviating poverty must occur side by side.

To quote their website:

That's why we work with local communities to find alternative resources to those found in the forest, lessening encroachment into the gorilla habitat and helping lift local people out of poverty. At the same time, we work with the UN, EU and other agencies to resist incursion into the forest by international companies.

With gorilla numbers constantly dwindling, it's very important that we save this beautiful creatures before it's too late.

Who can resist that face?
Aside from raising £1200 for The Great Gorilla Run, I will also donate £2 for every challenge not completed and also £1 for everyday I don't take a photograph, as per Challenge #45.

Current total: £5
